Stories From My Life In Education: Prom From Hell

Picture of a Prom party bus from The Educator Podcast: Perspectives - Stories From My Life Education: Prom From Hell

Ever wonder what it’s like to chaperone Prom? How about a Prom from hell? In this episode of The Educator Podcast: Perspectives I tell the story of a Prom gone horribly wrong. It involves an explosion, a highway, and some very stressed-out chaperones. Don’t worry though, it all worked out alright! All of us, adults and students, made it back in one piece to tell the tale of a Prom story that could have been taken straight out of a movie, one that I probably wouldn’t have believed unless I'd been there to see it for myself.

Stories From My Life in Education, Part 1

Every so often I’ll share stories from my life in education, the ups, the downs, and all the hilarious and ridiculous stories in between. In this episode of The Educator Podcast: Perspectives I share two of the most absurd stories from my time as an educator, all the way back from when I was still in high school working as a summer camp counselor - with kindergartners - at a local day camp. Working there was a rude and in hindsight hilarious awakening to the world of working with kids, and taught me you can literally never know what to expect.

Every so often I’ll share stories from my life in education, the ups, the downs, and all the hilarious and ridiculous stories in between. In this episode of The Educator Podcast: Perspectives I share two of the most shocking and borderline scary stories of my educational career from my time as a college senior student-teaching in an inner-city high school just outside of Washington, DC. As a naïve 21 year old from the suburbs of New Jersey, this was absolutely the biggest culture shock of my life, but it ultimately proved two powerful things, I was inspired to become an educator, and I was given an object lesson that all kids, no matter their circumstance or upbringing, crave and deserve safety, stability, compassion and understanding not just in their educational institutions, but in all walks of life.
